The Sunlight, Nutrition and Health Research Center (SUNARC) is an organization devoted to research, and education relating to the prevention of chronic disease through changes in diet and lifestyle.

Grant founded SUNARC in early 2004 just after he retired from NASA in order to continue and extend his research into primary risk-modifying factors for chronic diseases. “I am the sole person in SUNARC, although it is a non-profit organization with a board of directors who advise me from time to time.” Grant points out that he collaborates with several researchers such as Professor Cedric Garland, MPH, University of California, San Diego and his colleagues, including Dr. Edward Gorham, in doing ecologic studies and writing review and opinion manuscripts.

Grant has also written several review papers with Professor Michael Holick, Boston University, one paper with Prof. Johan Moan in Norway, and he is coauthoring a couple of manuscripts with Danne Godar (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) and Michael Holick on vitamin D production from solar UVB irradiance at the population level in the U.S.
